Landfill Gas

Our 19 sites and 67 gas engines have a total net installed capacity of 54MW, enough to power 126,000 homes a year

Landfill sites need to be managed for many decades to protect the environment. As the waste buried within degrades, methane gas is generated.

Landfill gas is a naturally occurring by-product of the decomposition of organic matter in landfill sites. If unmanaged, this harmful methane gas will adversely impact the earth’s climate.

Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, this baseload renewable energy fed directly to the grid is vital to the UK energy mix as well as providing a safe and environmentally sound solution for landfill gas management.
