Westfield Power Station
We are a renewable energy generator specialising in converting poultry litter into electricity, operated and maintained by our 21 strong in-house team. We are an integral part of the local economy generating jobs and investment through the local supply chain.
We were the first and only poultry litter fuelled power station in Scotland and the only one in the world utilising fluidised bed technology. Commissioned in 2000 we continue to provide an invaluable service to the Scottish poultry industry.
We have excellent availability and provide an invaluable service to the local poultry industry by way of a secure year round outlet for the disposal and recovery of biomass. Our combustion ash is sold as fertiliser to the British agricultural industry, making this a truly sustainable business model.
We have strong environmental awareness with a continued focus on improving our green credentials and are ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified. Our output reduces CO2 emissions by some 22,000 tonnes each year by displacing the equivalent amount of generation from gas fired plants. This equates to taking more than 8,500 cars off the UK's roads.
