Ely Power Station

 

We are a renewable energy generator specialising in converting straw and miscanthus into electricity, operated and maintained by our 40 strong in-house team. We are an integral part of the local economy generating jobs and investment through the local supply chain.

 

We were the first straw fuelled power station in the UK and have been generating green energy since 2000.

We have excellent availability and provide an invaluable service to local wheat growers. Our combustion ash is sold as fertiliser to the British agricultural industry making this a truly sustainable business model.

 

We have strong environmental awareness with a continued focus on improving our green credentials and are ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified. Our output reduces CO2 emissions by some 83,000 tonnes each year by displacing the equivalent amount of generation from gas fired plants. This equates to taking more than 32,000 cars off the UK's roads.
